I can't believe this...

There are about 40 "baptist" churches within a 10 mile radius of us (ya know, the Bible belt). The reason I put it in quotes is...well, you can guess. Eveyone is "saved" and they go to church every Sunday morning but do as they please the other 6 1/2 days of the week. We have been in the midst of looking for a church and thought that we had many to choose from, but once we started checking them out, we had to do some serious soul searching and thinking about what is "biblical", "traditional", and just plain "how we grew up". We have learned a lot and had some serious discussions between ourselves and friends. As well as digging out the tried but true Word of Life Bible Institute books. But one thing I passed on the outside board of a church near us immediately had us cross that one off our list. Here's what it said - hold onto your hats: "Try Jesus - if you don't like Him the devil will always take you back". I can hear the collective gasps. Maybe I just read it on a bad day, but I think that that is pretty shocking.

While we were living in Ottawa and Toronto the amount of churches definantly was less than here, but the advantage was when you talked with people, you immediatley knew where they stood regarding church. Sometimes I think it is easier to talk with someone who is a Muslim or agnostic than to try to talk to a good ole Southern person who grew up going to Sunday School with their grandma who sung in the choir who knows all the key phrases to say.

Ok - that's too deep for me on a Monday night at 10:00. I must go spend some time with my hubbie. I hear him chuckle as he passes the door and says, "Still Bloggin?" Until another time...

Ramblings of a Lazy Saturday

Nothing too exciting going on today. Kids woke us up at 9:20, not too bad. Picked up some groceries and breakfast, ate that at 11:00. Played with the kids, put them down for their naps, read, took a shower, got up, went out to eat with my folks, then went shopping. We bought some new bedding for our room. We picked the color blue we want it to be, now Scott just has to paint it. Once he gets a free weekend :-) Played a game of Candyland, gave the kids a bath, put them to bed and then played Rummy with my folks. Very, very exciting stuff going on here.

Looking forward to going to church tomorrow. We have changed churches and are excited to once again be excited to go to church. A very, very, very long story there. My fingers would fall off blogging about it and why relive it and have my fingers fall off and be handicapped for the rest of my life? Last week was a very thought provoking message and has spurred some interesting "discussions", not "debates". I would have to say, I don't think that I have ever been thinking about a sermon on Saturday that was preached last Sunday. We are going through the book of Romans, so I'm interested in seeing how the next chapter will build on last week's. I've even been doing some research on Romans 14 (so, an old dog can learn new tricks).

Anyway, that is about it. Oh, another interesting bit of information, I got sunburnt yesterday at the pool. Boo hoo for me, but I can't think of a better way to get sunburnt. Emma can swim under water and can turn a flip under water. Maelynn tries but she can't go under with her armies on, so her face goes under and her bum goes straight up in the air. Really cute (if I had a digital camera, you could see the picture, but since I don't we will have to wait approximately 2 weeks to see it). Once again, boo hoo for me.

Oh, Tracy, did you know that some stinker stole Emma and Maley's little surfboards from our hotel in Florida? I couldn't believe that some poop would take 2 Little Mermaid boards! Ok, so as we are leaving after checking out we see this man walking in the parking lot carrying a Little Mermaid board. I am outraged!! We had been there 10 days and not seen ANY one with boards - especially Little Mermaid - and we see him carrying one. (My good natured, mild-mannered husband did not agree with me that that man was in fact carrying OUR board). "Christy, how many of those do you think are made? Certainly not just 2." So, we continued driving out of the parking lot and that man got to take his board to the pool. I hope that he enjoyed himself. We were in South Carolina before I got over it - well actually it's been 3 weeks and I'm writing about it. Maybe this will get it out of my system.

Well, I'm off to bed. As you can tell, I'm not a deep thinker, more random thoughts than anything, but I am having fun. Until another day...

"Guess What Just Happened!"

This is the most recent picture I have of Scott and the girls, until my 15 rolls of vacation film, gets developed. Yes, we are still in the darkages regarding cameras. Maelynn always asks to see herself after every picture is taken. She gets tired of waiting 2 weeks! Yes, we are wishing and hoping for a digital camera for Christmas, or Scott's birthday (it's sooner!)

Ok, nobody reads this, but I will tell about my day...it's good for me to remember!
It started with Emma and Maelynn coming out of the bedroom saying, "Mom guess what just happened!" Always a bad statement coming from a 3 & 5 year old. But Emma proceeds to tell me that she has just led Maley to the Lord. I say, "Emma, that is wonderful, but I don't think Maelynn understands just yet." And Emma says, "Yes she does. I told her all about Jesus and that He died on the cross for her sins (and she does sin, mom, ya know) and then she prayed after me." And Maley is standing there and says "Right, mom, me say Jesus come in me hart (heart in her language) and BOOM! He came in me hart!" Now, how to argue with that? I always want to be careful not to put into their little heads that they got saved when they were young, if they don't remember it for theirselves. But, I mean, really, caring for her sister's soul at 5! Afterwards, Emma looks at Maelynn and says, "Good, now you don't have to go to hell!"

Well, other than mowing the yard in this sweltering heat, that's all that I can find interesting for today. I don't know how hot it is in Nova Scotia, but it is miserable here. The humidity is horrid. But the big bonus is, it's nice and cool in the house - maybe even a little bit chilly. After living in the heat and humidity of Ottawa with no AC, I still say a silent prayer of thanks when I walk into my very cool house. Most people get frozen when they stay in here for any length of time, but I'm making up for 6 years of sweat in Ontario! Well, until tomorrow...

What am I doing?

Not sure how this works, saw Tracy had one of these, read hers and was curious. Let me know!
