Grace Like Rain
It's amazing how often we sing hymns in church and not really pay attention to the words we are singing. Scott and I have discovered this awesome artist, Todd Agnew, and listen to his songs constantly. (How awesome it is to hear a 5 and 3 year old singing along with songs from the backseat) Today I was taking the girls to a movie and we were listening to this artist and he has this song, "Grace Like Rain" where he sings "Amazing Grace" but with a different melody than what we are used to singing with an added chorus. It is amazing that just changing the beat of the song could make me stop and take notice, more than just singing the same rote song that I have been singing since I was 3! And when you stop and think of the words - I almost had to stop the van. Just take a little read:
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost but now I'm found
Was blind but now I see so clearly
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away.
'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away
When we've been there ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun
We've no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun.
Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away.
WOW - there's nothing left to say...until another time...
